Summary: 

The Commissioning Manager will be a seasoned engineer with a thorough understanding of power station commissioning, operational practices, and a background that includes working within an EPC Contractor organization as a Commissioning Manager.  The CM will have developed and successfully implemented a commissioning plan for a power plant from turnover to commercial operation, including optimization and testing.  The CM will be required to coordinate contractors and owner staff to make decisions and to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.  The CM will be an excellent communicator, able to produce verbal and written reports suitable for project management.  The CM will also have demonstrated a keen understanding of contracting principles and commercial issues associated with power plant contracts.

Responsibilities: 

Development and implementation, with the EPC Contractors, of a comprehensive commissioning plan to include: overall commissioning schedule, turnover plans, system optimization and testing, functional testing, and performance testing.

Estimation and monitoring of commissioning quantities including: fuel, electricity, and chemicals.

Managing daily and weekly commissioning team meetings, ensuring actions are addressed in a timely manner, ensure creation and implementation of safety rules, ensuring daily lookaheads for power generation as agreed with system operator, and provide weekly report to stakeholders and other reports as necessary.

Development of procedures including owners project execution plan, review detail commissioning and testing procedures to ensure contract compliance, develop and manage punch list, and other tasks assigned by superior(s).  Mentor, train, and manage operations team.

Qualifications: 

A broad engineering background with at least 15 years’ experience developed in formative positions with increasing responsibility.  A thorough understanding of engineering, commissioning and construction.

Fluent in English language, excellent communication skills, strong analytical statistical/quantitative skills, and proficiency with Excel/Word.

A very strong leader that takes ownership and builds accountability within the team while promoting team-work and co-operation. Builds strong Internal and external communication with team and stake holders. Respect the opinions of others and acknowledges opposing viewpoints, demonstrates a positive attitude and approach to work and enjoys challenges.
